Preparation (First Fix) Before you start to fit your new kitchen there are a number of things that you can do to help the whole process run smoothly. Once you have removed your old units etc. Check the hot and cold water supplies for sink and appliances. If any pipes do not have a shut off valve fit one where it will be quickly accessible should you get a leak. Clean the floor taking care around the edges so that the legs of your new units do not fail on any debris and remain firmly planted on the ground. If you are considering tiling the floor you can save a good deal of money by not tiling under the units. You should also check your floor with a straight edge to make sure they are relatively flat. If you are tiling the walls check them for straightness and be sure the tiles will lip over the worktop all the way along. If they don't you will have to consider hiring a plasterer to straighten them or you can scribe the worktops back to the walls. If you scribe the worktops make sure that you will have sufficient overlap at the front of the units after scribing.
